Reports To:                    Program Supervisor for Project TYKE

Period of Employment:  12 Months (187 Days, 4 days a week, Monday -Thursday)                                           September 1 through August 31 (Grant Funded Position)

Wage/Hour Status:       Non-exempt

Pay Grade:                     AS02

 

 

Qualifications:

 

High School Diploma or GED

Ability to work with people

Ability to communicate effectively

General office skills, such as organizing, filing, fax, etc.

Ability to speak read and write Spanish and English

 

Primary Purpose:

 

The person should be knowledgeable of Project TYKE services to effectively communicate with the public and relate to staff’s needs. The clerk assists in maintaining children’s records and conducting daily office operations. The clerk provides translation and interpretation services in Spanish for TYKE families and staff in order to facilitate the provision of early intervention services.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Interpret for Spanish speaking children and their families during ECI Intervention Services.
  2. Interpret for any functions needing an interpreter as determined by the Program Supervisor.
  3. Assist ECI Staff and families by orally interpreting Evaluations, IFSP’s and Intervention Services.
  4. Translate written evaluations and IFSP’s from English to Spanish in order for families to have documentation in their primary language.
  5. Provide general office and clerical assistance to staff, such as restocking, filing, faxing, etc.
  6. Assist in maintaining the confidential filing system of clients
  7. Assist in taking referral information from parents or other agencies.
  8. Notify staff and families of appointments or cancellations.
  9. Provide information in Spanish to Katy ISD Special Education regarding children transitioning to special education services.
  10. Provide own transportation when providing translation services in the child’s natural environment (home/community).
  11. Complete district travel reimbursement forms.
  12. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

 

Personal computer, printer, copier, calculator, fax machine, multi-phone line and cell phone.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity technology; Repetitive hand motions such as prolonged use of the computer and or calculator; Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time; Frequent sitting, stooping, bending; Light lifting and carrying, 15 pounds daily; maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions; constant mobility from office location to service sites; district wide travel requiring use of personal vehicle.
