ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate the Special Education program to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Coordinate a comprehensive program for multi-tiered systems of support/Response to Intervention, the Referral Process, Special Education and Section 405
• Provide leadership and support for the District’s Special Education program and services.
• Participate in planning and providing Professional Development, as appropriate
• Coordinate Child Find efforts on assigned campus(es)
• Supervise and coordinate Special Education evaluation team and service providers efforts with other Special Education and District departments and programs.
• Coordinate contracted evaluation with private providers, as appropriate.
• Ensure evaluations and ARD Committee meetings adhere to state and federal timelines.
• Participate in review of personnel, as appropriate.
• Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Operating Guidelines, Policies and Procedures, as requested
• Complete and monitor data reports to provide accurate information regarding all assigned programs.
• Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents.
• Monitor accuracy of PEIMS data for all assigned programs
• Maintain current knowledge of state and federal law and best practices for all assigned programs.
• Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
• Work cooperatively with Campus Administrators in implement and refine MTSS/RTI, the Referral Process, Special Education and Section 504 programs
• Ensure confidentiality.
• Enhance job skills by participating with staff development programs, as assigned.
• Be active in teaching and learning meetings and special campus events as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• May supervise teachers and teacher aids in the Special Education program, as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Minimum, Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid Texas Special Education Teaching certificate
• Positive, calm, supportive attitude
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Organizational ability
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form.
• Ability to set priorities.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, students, and parents.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
