POSITION SUMMARY:
The AVID Coordinator will provide guidance to school staff and administration regarding the AVID system by using the AVID curriculum and implementing instructional methodologies and assessment procedures.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide strategic leadership for the district-wide AVID program, ensuring fidelity to the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework.
Serve as the primary instructional leader for AVID, providing ongoing coaching, modeling, and support to site coordinators and elective teachers. Conduct regular classroom observations to ensure the consistent use of AVID methodologies.
Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of AVID student data, including academic performance, course enrollment, and college acceptance rates.
Plan, organize, and facilitate professional learning opportunities for all AVID-certified staff.
Collaborate with district administrators to develop, manage, and monitor the district's AVID budget.
Work with site coordinators and counselors to establish and oversee a systematic process for recruiting and selecting students for the AVID elective. Monitor student progress and provide support to ensure AVID students are placed in rigorous coursework and are on track for college eligibility.
Act as the primary liaison between the district and the AVID Center. Effectively communicate program information, goals, and outcomes to all stakeholders, including district leadership, principals, teachers, parents, and community partners.
Develop and maintain a robust AVID tutor program.
Organize, facilitate and promote parent and community involvement in the AVID program.
Lead the district in maintaining AVID program certification for each school site

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

Required

Current Minnesota teacher licensure.
Trained in AVID program methodologies or willing to be trained.
Experience with and commitment to the AVID Program.
Belief that all students can learn at a high level.
Ability to collaborate with staff students and families.
Demonstrated ability to advocate and coach historically underachieving, underserved students.
Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.

Desired

Strong organization and leadership skills.
Demonstrates an understanding of “academic press” – the requisite levels of college preparatory courses.
