SUMMARY Network Communications Technician III is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of district advanced network and communication infrastructure systems. This role requires expertise in Cisco switches and routers, Cisco voice systems, intercom systems, two-way radio systems, projectors, and audio systems to ensure seamless communication and operation across all platforms.
RESPONIBILITIES include the following but are not limited to:
Network Setup and Maintenance: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco switches and routers to optimize network performance and connectivity.
Voice Communication Systems: Manage and support Cisco voice systems, including hardware installations and software configurations, ensuring reliable voice communication.
Intercom Systems: Install, maintain, and repair intercom systems to facilitate clear and effective communication within facilities.
Two-Way Radio Systems: Maintain and troubleshoot two-way radio systems, ensuring uninterrupted wireless communication for operational needs.
Audio and Visual Equipment: Set up, calibrate, and maintain projectors and audio systems for presentations, conferences, and events, ensuring optimal performance.
Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular diagnostics on all systems and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including IT teams and department heads, to assess system requirements and implement solutions that align with organizational goals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3 years in network and communications experience in a similar capacity implementing and maintaining a complex enterprise infrastructure communications network.
Experience with the following:
Installing, configuring, and repairing network and communications systems.
Cisco preferred switching and routing technologies.
Experience with LAN, WAN, wireless, VOIP infrastructure components.
Experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, VLANS, EIGRP.
Hands-on experience with intercom systems, two-way radio systems, projectors, and audio systems.
An ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently involving an enterprise network system.
Use of diagnostic tools to pinpoint and resolve enterprise infrastructure issues.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Tools/Equipment Used: Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations; personal computers and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; regular kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motion; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; regular walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds) Environment: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; occasional districtwide travel; May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day. Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
OPERATING DISTRICT OWNED VEHICLE
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
May be required to operate a district-owned vehicle for work-related travel between district sites.
Employees operating a district-owned vehicle must comply with Administrative Procedure III-T- Operating a District-Owned Vehicle.
