Starting Rate: $50,804.95 - $69,307.05 annually, based on qualifications and experience
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM


In this role, you will:
● Examine, review, and evaluate applications and plans for new building construction, alterations, and repairs to buildings and fences for compliance.
● Advise, recommend, and answer questions in person and on the phone at the request of property owners, contractors, engineers, city officials, and the general public.
● Receive and file zoning petitions, supervise collection of fees, prepares and publishes legal notices.
● Conduct inspections of new building construction, repairs, and alterations of building or structures when necessary to verify Certificate of Occupancy status.
● Respond and investigate complaints and inquiries regarding possible violations of the zoning ordinance. Compile complete and accurate records and reports as evidence. Initiate legal action against violators who refuse to comply.
● Review proposed subdivision developments, assign addresses to subject properties, maintain maps showing current zoning classifications and register non-conforming uses.

Qualifications: This position requires knowledge, skills and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in planning, business administration, public administration or law, and four years of related professional experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid class D Driver’s License is required. Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
