East Haddam Public Schools is a rural K-12 school district in central Connecticut with a focus on supporting the whole child/student. Special education caseloads are designed to allow and ensure this focus remains at the forefront.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with learning disabilities in reading and/or math, as well as students with ADHD and Autism. They will be skilled in delivering structured, individualized instruction using research-based strategies and will regularly collect and use data to guide their teaching.
A successful teacher in this role will foster student engagement, support executive functioning, and provide clear routines that promote independence and confidence. They will understand the sensory and social-emotional needs of their students and implement effective accommodations to support regulation and social interaction. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential, as this teacher will work closely with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure student success.
