JOB GOAL: The receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors, students, and staff and delivering exceptional customer service assistance. This entails addressing visitor questions and needs and providing an overall welcoming environment. This person will provide clerical assistance for the intermediate school office while optimizing efficiency and minimizing disruption to the educational process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
Experience in clerical work in an office setting.
Previous experience in a public school setting or institution of higher education.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Skill in organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Display attention to detail.
Strong problem solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively; manage multiple priorities and projects; use computer and application software.
Ability to handle confidential information with complete security.
Ability to utilize word processing, database and spreadsheet programs on the computer Ability to perform required clerical work within established timelines
Prefered two years clerical/secretarial experience
Ability to operate a variety of office machines
CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as part-time Hourly Support Staff and is subject to the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the Board of School Trustees.
REPORTS TO: LIMS Princiapal & LMS Associate Principal
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
Greet and direct campus visitors.
Meet and interact with visitors and employees with tact, discretion and courtesy.
Respond to inquiries from staff members, students, and the general public.
Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed.
Assist parents in checking students in and out of school.
Receive, sort, and distribute mail, messages, documents, and other deliveries.
Assist with the receipt and distribution of student materials, including homework requests.
Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes.
Assist with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc.
Establish, maintain and monitor accurate, neat and efficient electronic and manual filing systems.
Assist with the scheduling of teacher conferences/IEP meetings.
Provide clerical assistance as needed.
Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain office bulletin board.
Conform to district policy regarding attendance and absences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve running, walking or standing for brief periods.
Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far visual acuity, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
