Job Description
The Manager GIS Development is responsible for maintaining and tuning the enterprise GIS deployment and designing, developing, coding, and implementing new GIS functionality to meet business needs. The manager ensures GIS users leverage accurate, relevant spatial information to create insight for high-value decisions across the company.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance
- Lead team responsible for maintaining enterprise GIS software and infrastructure, including web servers, GIS servers, and data servers. Create and update documentation on GIS maintenance and monitoring processes, resulting in SOPs. Research and apply patches and updates. Monitor system performance and interpret results from performance analysis applications.
- Lead activities related to the rationalization of multiple real estate GIS systems, including integration of the processes, data, functions and systems. Lead GIS projects related to enterprise profitability optimization. Implement best practices across GIS systems for all banners.
- Work closely with the Information Technology Department to design, maintain, and implement back end processes that support enterprise GIS.
- Create and maintain web applications in GeoCortex to meet business needs across the organization for spatial insight
- Create and configure GeoCortex Sites using GeoCortex Essentials Manager, Javascript, and HTML, and related applications
- Develop new GIS functionality, using GeoCortex Workflow Designer, Esri Model Builder, Python and related applications, to meet business needs for new GIS functionality
- Configure reports and charts using ArcGIS Server and GeoCortex Report Designer
- Troubleshoot performance and network connectivity issues through Fiddler software, packet captures, and communication with IS and Esri / GeoCortex tech support.
- Prepare and maintain project status reports
- Support GIS data model to ensure spatial tools are current, accurate, and relevant/insightful to users.
- Creation of map services through ArcGIS Server and web maps in ArcGIS Online
- Maintenance of GIS content through data updates and QA
- Assist with GIS data quality improvements
- Interface with enterprise data systems using Python, SQL Server Management Studio, and ArcCatalog to automatically update data. Develop ETL processes, including complex SQL queries and views, to organize data for optimal use.
- Support GIS users, including senior management, through training, technical support, and spatial analysis. Prepare ad hoc analyses and mapping requests for senior management.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in GIS support responsibilities, including application development, database administration, user support, etc.
- Knowledge of and experience with Esri Desktop GIS products and ArcGIS Server
- Experience with Enterprise Geodatabases, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio
- Strong working knowledge of Python, JavaScript, HTML, VBScript, Esri Model Builder
- Experience developing custom GIS scripts and applications
- Retail experience
- GeoCortex Essentials, GeoCortex Workflow Designer
- Experience with TAS
- IIS/ web server, Fiddler experience
