JOB OVERVIEW:
The Medical Technician/Scribe role is responsible for assisting Physicians and Mid-Level Practitioners with the evaluation, management, and treatment of patients at The Orthopaedic Institute. This position will work three days per week as a Medical Technician and two days per week as a Scribe.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Medical Technician Responsibilities (3 days/week):
- Maintain patient flow and the upkeep of exam and treatment rooms.
- Perform basic skills such as vital signs and point-of-care testing.
- Review patient history.
- Order X-rays.
- Draw up injections.
- Wound care.
- Suture and staple removal.
- Splinting/casting.
- DME application.
- Clean and stock exam rooms.
- Medical instrument packing and cleaning.
- Ensure bloodborne pathogen, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other governmental regulations are adhered to.
- Ensure all safety regulations are followed.
Scribe Responsibilities (2 days/week):
- Document patient history, exams, treatments, and provider instructions in the EMR.
- Prepare and send referral letters with reports and test results.
- Perform clerical tasks, coordinate referrals, and track follow-ups.
- Ensure charts are accurate, complete, and HIPAA-compliant.
- Support quality reporting and improvement efforts.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSE:CCMA or CNA preferred. CPR certified preferred
EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:1-2 years of medical office experience preferred
SKILLS:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Comfortable working in fast paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient with computer skills including experience with practice management software desired.

- Travel may be required to existing or new TOI locations.
