Summary:
The food service worker is responsible for the overall preparation and distribution of food items within the center.
The hours are 6:30am-3:00pm Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- In accordance with classroom schedules, prepare and distribute the established menu of food items to each classroom. This includes breakfast, lunch and snack.
- Maintain appropriate health and safety standards in the kitchen at all times.
- Monitor waste and work towards efficiency and reduction.
- Understand and adhere to CACFP regulations.
- Clean and disinfect all food preparation and food service areas on a daily basis.
- Wash and disinfect all dishes, utensils, bottles, etc. on a daily basis.
- Restock all dishes, utensils, bottles and snacks in the classrooms.
- Be knowledgeable of any allergies within the center and make appropriate meal accommodations or substitutions.
- Maintain adequate food inventory.
- Occasionally assist in classrooms, answer the phones, watch and answer the door, and allow time for other employees to take a break.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all CDC policies and procedures as set forth in the policy manual.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food service industry, specifically food preparation or cooking.
- Must possess or obtain required state and federal clearances.
- Sneakers or similar slip-resistant footwear are required.
- Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.
- May require travel to other centers within the county.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the workday with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out essential job duties.
- Lifting and carrying of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds.
