Position Overview
The Director of Programs, will provide administrative oversight in the implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and growth of Alternatives’ Behavioral Health, Restorative Justice, and Community programs and services. This includes oversight and occasional coverage of the 24 hr crisis program. As a member of the Executive Team, this position will work collaboratively with the team to set strategic direction, build annual budgets, participate in fundraising initiatives, set organization culture, and assist in decision-making that impacts the overall organization.
Responsibilities:
Perform the following from a racial, gender, sexuality, and ability equity lens:
Drive and execute the programmatic vision of the Executive Director and Alternatives by planning, developing and administering program components consistent with agency policies and community needs.
As a member of the Executive Team, collaboratively contribute to the development of Alternatives’ strategic programmatic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization by building annual budgets, set organizational culture and participating in decision making that impacts the overall organization.
Work collaboratively with the Executive Team to pursue fundraising initiatives, prepare proposals and budgets for various grants and funding sources.
Provide high-level administrative oversight of the Behavioral Health, Restorative Justice and Community Services departments, ensuring cross-alignment, operational efficiency, and adherence to core frameworks.
Supervise and evaluate senior program staff (e.g. Associate Directors), supporting professional development and delivering in-service training aligned with staff needs and programmatic goals.
Oversee and implement the expansion of Alternatives’ fee for service approach
Serve as a strategic liaison between the Executive Director and the Associate Directors of Behavioral Health, Restorative Justice, and Community Services regarding project updates, proposals, planning, etc.
Facilitate internal cross-collaboration within the Behavioral Health, Restorative Justice and Community Services teams, and to other agency departments to support holistic service delivery and integrated systems.
Maintain general working knowledge of all agency departments including Finance and HR to contribute meaningfully to interdepartmental planning and coordination.
Ensure contract compliance and quality assurance across all programs; oversee monitoring systems, deliverables, and data reporting in collaboration with program leads.
Negotiate, maintain, and develop service contracts with external providers and partners to enhance programming, and provide and expand service access in Behavioral Health, Restorative Justice and Community Services to agency clients.
Participate in Alternatives’ fundraising initiatives including grant writing and program budget development.
Cultivate and maintain appropriate external partnerships and relationships to execute, promote and expand agency services.
Represent Alternatives at relevant forums and events as assigned.
Present at and/or participate in Board meetings and committees as needed.
Serve as a subject matter expert for the organization and its services, handling internal inquiries and developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications.
Improve current processes and coordinate organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.
Actively participate in all applicable staff and team meetings, professional development trainings and supervision meetings.
Provide coverage on a 24 hr crisis response as needed in collaboration with the On-call team.

Qualifications:
Masters in Social work or related field preferred
5+ years of progressive leadership team experience, executive leadership experience preferred.
Experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments.
Experience in fundraising and grant writing
Strong administrative and project management skills working with multifaceted and complex programs.
Demonstrated success evaluating services and programs, and successfully operationalizing innovative programs
Must possess solid understanding of data collection and program evaluation
Must possess understanding of program and organizational finances
Must possess understanding of Human Resources
Must be driven to succeed, organized, proactive, flexible, innovative, responsible, possess integrity and the ability to motivate others.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with agency staff, board members, funders, donors and volunteers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and project management skills working with multifaceted and complex programs

Must successfully complete the Alternatives Internal Leadership Pipeline Program within two attempts as a condition of continued employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination.
