Oakland Clinical is part of the Irvine Clinical Research site network, the largest of its kind on the West Coast. With 5 research centers in California, we are leaders in the search for new treatments in neurology, psychiatry, and obesity medicine. Our largest area of research is in Alzheimer’s Disease prevention and treatment drug trials, and our doctors were the largest contributors in the world to the most recently FDA-approved medication in Alzheimer’s Disease.
The Pharmacy Technician will work with our team of doctors and research staff to perform pharmacy procedures related to investigational products (study drugs), especially infusion-based drugs.
Hours and Compensation
This is a full-time employment position based in-person at our clinic next to Alta Bates Summit in Oakland. It is on the 11th floor of a large, safe medical building with transit access, a multi-story parking garage, and beautiful views of the bay. We have five clinics throughout California, but this is our first site in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The starting salary for this role is $25/hour.
The company pays for 100% of health/dental/vision individual insurance costs for eligible full-time employees. Vacation (PTO) is earned at a rate of 3 weeks per year.
Job Duties
Assist in the preparation, handling, and accountability of investigational products (IP) for clinical trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and study protocols
Reconstitute and/or dilute IP as provided by study Sponsors into final products ready for intravenous (IV) infusion or injection, using aseptic techniques
Be accountable and own recordkeeping of IP, including detailed documentation of receipt, dispensation, and disposal/return of IP. Maintain pharmacy-related regulatory records
Coordinate with doctors and research staff to ensure on-time delivery/handling of IP to study participants
Perform weekly inventory of pharmacy stock to ensure sufficient materials for IP preparation
Prepare for regular pharmacy monitoring/audit visits by study Sponsors
Serve as a secondary coordinator on certain clinical studies
Assist with participant intake and screening as needed
Job Requirements
Experience in medication compounding with aseptic techniques
Experience with pharmacy calculations
Active and unencumbered California Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License
Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks with precision
A command of professional spoken and written English
