The Environmental Data Governance Initiative (EDGI) is working to ensure the long-term preservation and access of essential data and information about ocean wildlife. We are seeking two part-time employees to support data archiving for this effort, with an esimated effort of 5-10 hours per week. Employees will work from home and no travel is involved in these positions.
 



POSITION SUMMARY & PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of project leads, employees will:
  • Locate and archive data and information
  • Create data documentation
  • Support the project team in publishing data and data products
Employees will be trained on EDGI’s methodologies and have regular check-ins with project leads to set direction and review work products. This position does not require coding experience; if employees do make contributions to EDGI’s open tools and codebase those will be visible in EDGI’s Github repositories.

In order to contribute to the archiving project, employees need to have: 
  • Internet that allows timely access to and downloading of files up to 10 MB
  • Familiarity with Google Suite


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate has good organizational and time management skills. Candidates will benefit from being self-directed and having the capacity to work independently.
