Position Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Support Technician 1 position is responsible for specialized work functioning in support of the County’s Domestic Relations child support program. Work includes performing varied assignments which require knowledge of the County and the Commonwealth’s Domestic Relations support activities relating to payment collection. The individual in this role is responsible for the independent performance of procedural duties, but the emphasis is on the breadth and scope of the position’s role in support of one or more Conference Officers.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position reports directly to the Domestic Relations Support Services Supervisor or Office Supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION
Reviews and processes correspondence, computer data, orders, conference notes, summaries, and other forms for staff members.
Compiles data for Conference Officer’s use, may compose routine correspondence, letters, notices, forms, etc.
Updates files as necessary. Assembles materials for reports, summaries, and other uses from information submitted by parties, employers, lawyers, and other offices both within and outside of the Court. Completes forms requires to initiate, follow up, or complete processing of support activities.
Sorts and processes PACSES income attachment batch forms. Identifies which attachments should be mailed out, depending on whether an excess amount should be added or deleted according to case balance.
Enters data in computer system to update and maintain support accounts, receives reminders to review case status, pulls case, and refers to staff member for action.
Answers overflow telephone calls from clients, lawyers, and members of the public and representatives from other county and court offices, explains general functions and operations of office, or provides status of case.
Schedules and reschedules appointments and pre-trial conferences.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – Completion of a high school, or general equivalency diploma; AND
At least one (1) year of clerical experience in an administrative, professional, governmental, or judicial setting; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the policies, practices, and procedures involved in a county domestic relations child support program.
Knowledge of the organizational relationships within the Domestic Relations Court and related programs.
Knowledge of functions, operations, and procedures of the Commonwealth’s central child support collection program.
Skill in gathering information from the child support computer system, and responding to a variety of individuals, clients, attorneys, and others on child support matters.
Skill in organizing workload, addressing priorities, and completing clerical processing requirements.
Ability to compile and prepare court orders, and understand payment schedules and other child support information.
Ability to input, access, and interpret computer data.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, callers, visitors, clients, and representatives of other offices.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English to perform the duties of this position.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
Telephone, personal computer (including word processing and spreadsheet software), calculator, writing implements, fax machine, copy machine, and paper shredder.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
