CNTA is searching for two strong leaders to serve as managers of a brand new adult day program opening in Summerhill, PA.  An Adult Day Program is a program for adults diagnosed with an intellectual/developmental disability that is built around the individual, what they love, what they’re great at and helps them build new skills and takes them out into the community. that offers support services to adults who have been diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities.  The Program Manager & Program Specialist must have accountability and take initiative, think outside the box and bring positive, effective solutions to the team while remaining self-motivated and being a true go-getter.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A PROGRAM SPECIALIST/MANAGER

Your primary goal is to assist our individuals who have been diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities to live their best life. In this position, you must be committed to the happiness and well-being of the adults we support while providing supervisory guidance to our staff.  You can expect to:

  1. Provide dedicated support to a caseload of individuals, delivering personalized services, ensuring individualized outcomes, and maintaining high quality standards.
  2. Assist in developing and teaching daily living skills and appropriate behaviors as written in the Individual Support Plan (ISP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP), if applicable.
  3. Build relationships and communicate effectively with the individuals'’ support system.
  4. Participate in the ISP process, development, team reviews, and implementation in accordance with state regulations.
  5. Provide and supervise activities for the individuals in accordance with their specific ISP, including opportunities for community integration.
  6. Accurately complete, maintain, and submit all documentation and written records as required by the state, federal laws, statutes, rules, regulations, and policies or procedures of the agency.
  7. Proactively manage the annual licensing process, aiming for continuous improvement and minimal violations.

Requirements

Requirements to be a Program Specialist/Manager include:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree in a related field of study or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university in a related field of study and 4 years work experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and 2 years of work experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability, or a master’s degree or higher in a related field of study from an accredited college or university and one 1 year work experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, successfully complete a driving history record check, and have access to reliable transportation to get to/from work with the ability to travel between Johnstown and Somerset.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen and criminal background check.

Ideal candidates are compassionate, patient, creative, motivated, detail-oriented, can handle multiple priorities at once, and must have excellent computer and communication skills.  This is a position that requires strong organizational skills and a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals and provide support in their everyday life while having a strong ability to focus on solutions. Additional skills and requirements for this position:

  • Must have a strong knowledge of community resources for the IDD population.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, as well as possess compassion for and an understanding of the needs, struggles, and desires of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, individuals receiving services, families, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Must be solution focused, adaptable and innovative, being able to quickly adapt to changes and have a constant focus on improvement.
  • Must be a team player who works exceedingly well with others.
  • Must be dynamic, actively seeking out opportunities for continued learning with a focus on optimizations and creating new efficiencies.
