Salary: $80,000 Minimum
Bargaining Unit (click here for contracts): GUSS Contract

Report Times: 7:00AM - 3:30PM
Daily Hours: 8.5 (7.5 Paid)

Civil Service Title:  Senior Computer Application Specialist

Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or an Information Technology related field; OR,

(B) Graduation with an Associate’s degree as defined in (A) above, plus two (2) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in developing or maintaining database applications on micro-computers; OR,

(C) Four (4) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience as described in (B) above; OR,

(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

Desired Qualifications:
Good knowledge of agency software. Strong understanding of SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) model and cloud-based applications;
Ability to effectively utilize, configure, and manage user-facing aspects of complex software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications, particularly our CMMS;
Ability to thoroughly test software applications and identify discrepancies or areas for improvement, particularly during user acceptance testing for CMMS updates;
Ability to coordinate the implementation of computerized systems and conduct research and analysis related to software optimization and user needs;
Ability to define business practices and user requirements;
Ability to analyze and extract data from a SaaS-based database, such as our CMMS, to generate reports and support decision-making;
Ability to supervise others in proper operational procedures;
Ability to coordinate and deliver training sessions on the effective use of our CMMS;
Ability to create custom reports;
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective liaison with users and external vendors;
Ability to clearly articulate user requirements and technical issues to external software support teams;
Experience with ticketing systems and managing support requests;
Familiarity with facility management software, ideally our CMMS;
Accuracy;
Good judgment;
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Coordinates the implementation and optimization of our CMMS and related software;
Acts as a functional project leader and primary liaison during CMMS implementations and upgrades, coordinating internal user needs with external vendor support;
Acts as the in-house subject matter expert for our CMMS, understanding its functionality and how it supports departmental operations;
Defines current business processes and works with our CMMS vendor to configure and tailor the software to meet evolving departmental needs;
Coordinates in-house training sessions for departmental staff on the effective use of our CMMS and related software;
Provides supervision in the planning and production of computer applications;
Analyzes a variety of data, extracting information from our CMMS and other databases;
Merges, compiles, and manipulates data from various sources;
Formulates ad hoc custom reports;
Troubleshoots user-reported issues within the software application, escalating complex technical problems to CMMS support as needed;
Acts as a primary liaison between the business division, internal Information Technology division, and the CMMS vendor for software-related matters;
Manages and tracks support tickets with our CMMS vendor, ensuring timely resolution of issues;
Collaborates with CMMS technical support on troubleshooting and optimizing system performance;
Facilitates communication and coordination between departmental users and our CMMS vendor for feature requests, bug fixes, and system enhancements;
Monitors and understands the service level agreements (SLAs) with our CMMS vendor to ensure compliance and optimal service delivery;
Participates in user acceptance testing (UAT) for CMMS updates and new functionalities;
Responsible for budgeting and procurement of goods and services;
Facility use Coordinator for the District including building and grounds usage for both internal and external customers;
Warehouse supervision including oversight of all courier functions, good knowledge of inventory, cycle counts, reconciliation, and all aspects of bookkeeping as it relates to inventory management and purchasing;
Asset management for all capital and trackable assets purchased including annual inventory, proper disposition, and reporting;
Other duties as assigned.
