Position: Part-time Caregiver/Transporter [1132]

Program: Amarillo, Texas – Alternate Living

Salary: $16.55/hr.

Shift available: Part-time (Flexible hours Monday – Friday anytime between 8 am - 5 pm)

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • The Transporter assists persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities by transporting them to and from medical, dental, and personal appointments
  • The Transporter performs direct care for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in residential, vehicle, and out of home environments for male or female residents
  • The Caregiver will assist in training, preparing meals, feeding, bathing, toileting, medication administration and maintaining a safe and clean environment for the residents, and other duties associated with daily living
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • No experience required
  • High school diploma or GED; or three written professional letters of recommendation and the completion of competency tests
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE)

  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy  
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • At least six (6) months of work experience of operating a motor vehicle with multiple passengers and experience in the human services field
  • Some experience working with individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities
  • Basic proficiency in the use of desktop/laptop computers
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
