The Commercial Electrical Lead will successfully manage the execution of commercial solar installation projects. You will lead, train, and support a team of installers including overseeing work performance, and provide project status updates to the Director of Construction and/or Commercial Operations Manager.
Job Duties:
Provides leadership for those reporting to you by clearly communicating the mission, goals, and values of Freedom Solar Power.
Plans, coordinates and organizes people, equipment, tools, and materials to promote the safe, efficient, and timely construction of the project.
Ensures that construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
Maintains accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, timesheets, photos, and daily management reports. (Procore)
May assist in developing a weekly schedule and in carrying out a sequence of activities for assigned crew.
Responsible for timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs while maintaining the company’s reputation for quality workmanship/product.
Responsible for the safety of those on the crew and will conduct all operations according to all applicable company and government safety regulations.
Develops and conducts toolbox meetings; communicates safety concerns, work scope, plans, and schedules to lead and crews.
Ensures that crew members clock in and out daily to log work hours. Approve timecards weekly.
Monitors compliance by all employees under his/her supervision with all FSP policies.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
Knowledge of local electrical codes
Knowledge of commercial PV design and components
Knowledge of basic trades: roofing, carpentry, plumbing, and metal framing
Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring schematics, and electrical instructions
Ability to make field changes and communicate with Project Manager and Construction Manager
Ability to test voltages from 10V – 1000VDC / 120V – 480VAC
Ability to manage up to 20 installers on one project
Ability to receive and distribute instructions
Ability to communicate problems to Project Manager
Ability to drive a truck and trailer safely
Ability to operate heavy equipment: skid-steer, forklift, reach boom, scissor lift, articulating boom lift, and skytrack.
Ability to fly a DJI Phantom drone safely
Education and Experience Required:
3+ years of construction experience required.
Active Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician License Required.
Ability to travel 70% of the time and work varying shifts as needed to include weekends and overtime.
Valid Driver’s License Required.
Must be computer/technical savvy.
OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.
NFPA 70E Certified
NABCEP Certification
Experience with solar projects
Mechanical experience and/or aptitude
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Ability to withstand heights, be on roofs, and climb ladders
Ability to lift 50-75+ lbs routinely
Ability to bend, stretch, squat, and lift
Ability to work in 30-100+ degree weather, as well as in wet and dry conditions
