Hybrid Preschool Teacher- Per Diem- EEC Certified at The Austen Riggs Center Inc

The Austen Riggs Center Nursery School is seeking an EEC certified Preschool Teacher to work collaboratively with the nursery school director and lead teacher to provide a safe and high-quality education experience for preschool students on a per diem basis.

Join our mission-driven early childhood program that serves preschool-aged children alongside an educational training experience for psychiatric patients interested in child development. Under the guidance of the Nursery School Director, you will deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and support hands-on learning in a compassionate, inclusive environment. 

The Austen Riggs Nursery School follows the public-school calendar and also is open for a summer session each year.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Teach, learn, and play with preschool age children. 
• Implement a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum, engaging children through      provocations and rich, sensory-based materials. 
• Mentor and support teacher’s aides and staff in classroom management, behavior      strategies, and relationship-building approaches. 
• Uphold strict confidentiality, professional boundaries, and cultural competency      in all interactions. 
• Actively contribute to continuous improvement and alignment with quality indicators      and patient satisfaction goals. 

Requirements

• Must enjoy working with children.
• Valid Massachusetts EEC Preschool Teacher certification required  
• Associates degree, BA, or BS in Early Childhood Education or a related field strongly preferred  
• Minimum of 9 months supervised experience in an early childhood setting (or equivalent coursework/practicum) 
• Strong collaborative spirit—experience in mentoring, team teaching, and effective communication 
• Warm, calm, and dynamic—capable of balancing compassion with professionalism 
• Excellent organizational skills: ability to receive and apply feedback effectively 
• Ability to lift, reach, bend, sit on the floor, and remain physically active with children throughout the day 
• Requires CPR and First Aid- we will provide. 
• Commitment to ongoing professional development—including completing EEC’s annual background and training requirements
