Hybrid Middle School English Language Learners Teacher at FAIRMONT SCHOOLS INC

Description

We are seeking for a dedicated and skilled Middle School English Language Learners (ELL) Teacher to join our semi-sheltered program within our International Foundation Center (IFC) Department. This position focuses on developing students’ English proficiency through content-based instruction in English, History, Science, and a dedicated language development class. The ideal candidate will be adept at differentiating instruction to support a mixed-grade level class with varying language abilities and have experience working with young international students.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement engaging, content-based lessons that integrate the four skills of language learning: reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with varying language abilities.

- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and instructional strategies that support ELL students.

- Assess student progress and provide feedback to support language development.

- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement and participation.

- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.

Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

- Valid teaching credential with an endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL) or equivalent.

- Experience working with English Language Learners, particularly in a middle school setting.

- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and best practices in ELL instruction.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

- Passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
