Job Description

SENIOR ACCOUNT CLERK

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under supervision, perform difficult clerical accounting duties involved in keeping and reviewing financial and statistical records; and perform related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for financial recordkeeping operations in one or more of the more complex elements of the District’s accounting systems;
2. Arrange, post, and balance financial data;
3. Compile, check, and tabulate budgetary estimates and allotments;
4. Establish and maintain subsidiary ledgers;
5. Engage in correspondence, both oral and written, with staff members and outside parties;
6. Audit invoices in accordance with established procedures;
7. Write warrants and maintain warrant register;
8. Maintain control accounts;
9. Balance accounts and review trial balances;
10. Operate timesharing terminal and enter accounting information into the computerized accounting records;
11. Operate typewriter and other business machines; and
12. Work with auditors on periodic problems.

KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Methods, practices, and terminology used in bookkeeping and financial recordkeeping.

ABILITY TO:
1. Post and make arithmetical computations rapidly and accurately;
2. Learn and apply laws, regulations, and procedures;
3. Operate accounting, tabulating, calculating, duplicating, and on-line terminal;
4. Accurately type correspondence and accounting data;
5. Prepare clean and accurate reports;
6. Meet strict deadlines; and
7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION:
Any combination equivalent to:
1. Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping; and
2. Thee years of experience in financial recordkeeping work with experience in data entry systems preferred.

Salary Info

Range 21 on the classified salary schedule (CSEA), 6 steps

Comments and Other Information

New three-year collective bargaining agreement; Salary schedule beginning 7.1.25 will include a 2% salary schedule increase and a 2% off-schedule payment at year-end pending ratification 2026–2027: Salary schedule increase of 60% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end pending ratification 2027–2028: Salary schedule increase of 50% of the statutory funded COLA, plus any funded ongoing augmentations as provided in the State Budget Act; 2% off-schedule payment at year-end pending ratification
