General Job Description: Provide educationally related social work services for students with disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete routine reports and tasks promptly and efficiently
Participates in student planning and program development
Implements individual student programs
Demonstrates a willingness to examine and implement change as appropriate
Works productively with colleagues, parents, and students
Demonstrates accurate knowledge of field
Demonstrates appropriate assessment techniques and procedures
Demonstrates a professional demeanor as defined by the code of ethics of the education professional
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct an individualized social-emotional-adaptive assessment o the student, the student’s family and the educational and social communities.
Employ appropriate methods of practice that enables students and their families to function adequately within their educational and community settings.
Utilize on-going appropriate methods to evaluated his/her services
Prepare social or developmental histories for students with disabilities
Provide group and individual counseling with students and their families who are receiving special education as identified as a need through assessment
Work with those problems in student living situations (home, community and school) that affect their adjustment in school
Mobilize school and community resources to enable students to receive benefit from their special education services
Attend Multidisciplinary Team meetings as needed to discuss student need, evaluation data and to plan for goals and objectives, if appropriate
Maintain necessary and appropriate licensure
Other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor
Qualifications: Must have current SW license, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with parents, students and school personnel.
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, kneeling, prolonged typing, physical ability to type on a keyboard terminal, and moving light furniture may be required.
Equipment/Technology Handled: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
