Admissions Counselor Assistant

Position Summary:

As an integral part of the Wheaton College Undergraduate Admissions Office, Admissions Counselor Assistants (ACAs) will seek to build relationships with students and their families interested in Wheaton. In these relationships, ACAs will seek to help prospective students determine if Wheaton is right for them by sharing their personal Wheaton experience via in-person meetings, phone, postcard, and various digital platforms. They will also represent Wheaton College at various recruitment events, including on-campus events, online events, and local college fairs. ACAs may meet with visiting families on campus, as well as other tasks as assigned by the Counselor staff.

 
Qualifications

An ACA will need to have strengths in the areas of hospitality, communication, organization, time-management, cultural competence, and collaboration. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The student must be in good academic standing and committed to a full academic year of service to the Undergraduate Admissions Office.  

 

Expectations:

• A minimum work schedule of 6-8 hours per week is required for the role. ACAs should plan to set their work hours to be in-person in the Welcome Center between the hours of 12pm-5pm Monday-Friday.  In addition, there could be occasional evening calling campaigns.  ACAs will work in partnership with the Admissions Counselor staff.
• Participation in major recruitment events such as myWheaton Days, Connection, online panels, and local college fairs.
• Some flexibility to meet with a visiting family during the day if requested. 
• Representing Wheaton at one or more local college fairs each year. This will either require getting certified to drive a college vehicle, or ability to be reimbursed for mileage for personal vehicle use or rideshare/taxi fare.
