Group Fitness Instructor

The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) Fitness team is currently seeking experienced and qualified Group Fitness Instructors to join our team! As a Group Fitness Instructor, your primary responsibility will be to plan, instruct, and lead various group fitness classes that are in line with your certifications and areas of expertise. Group fitness classes can take place either indoors or outdoors, at our top-notch recreation centers or one of the many beautiful parks in our area. Our sessions and classes are open to the community at large, and we welcome patrons of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and interests. As a result, we are seeking team members who have the ability to support the individual needs of patrons while also managing group dynamics effectively. Trainers and instructors must be capable of demonstrating safe exercise techniques. Instructors keep our patrons safe physically by gauging and adjusting programming to meet each patron’s ability and skill level and mentally by encouraging and building a positive community with our patrons.

Schedule:
THPRD is hiring for multiple positions, hours may vary and are based on program need. This position is typically scheduled 2 to 29 hours per week; between 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM throughout the week, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Job Classification Status:
Part-time variable (PT) employees work an average of less than 20 hours per week and may work less than 1,560 hours on an annual basis. To learn more about the part-time classifications THPRD offers, see Part-Time ClassificationsThis position may be eligible for multiple positions within the same classification that have the same job duties and qualifications. Any changes between part-time, year-round and part-time, seasonal positions require a 13-week break in service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current certification required (AFAA, ACSM, ACE, NASM, ISSA, Zumba®, etc.)
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certification, or willing to obtain/renew upon hire
  • 2+ years' experience teaching 
  • Experience working with a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish. THRPD offers a 3% pay incentive for staff who utilize their bilingual or multilingual skills at work.
