Positive Leaps is seeking a qualified EMT Medical Staff member to join our team at our West Chester location. This position involves conducting physical and psychological evaluations for children facing behavioral and emotional challenges. As a key member of the child’s support team, the Medical Staff members will play an integral role in helping children successfully transition back to school or daycare, while fostering improvements in their behavior and interpersonal relationships. Hours needed: Monday and Friday, 1:00pm to 5:00pm or PRN: Monday through Friday within the hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm. PRN is a 1099 position.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts personal and professional business with ethical, legal and moral integrity always.
- Observes and completes physical and psychological assessments of children following high level behavioral intervention (safe room orders) as outlined in the policy to adhere to OMHAS expectations and standards.
- Document and report observations, physical and psychological status, and overall intervention assessment on agency forms for the State of Ohio.
- Supports high level behavioral interventions, as ordered by psychiatric staff, in collaboration with trained agency staff members.
- Assesses on-site injuries and completes State Incident Reports.
- Assess unwell children to determine if the child needs to leave daily programming.
- Audit on-site First Aid kits and coordinate maintenance of supplies.
- Coordinate with emergency services, as needed, in a crisis by providing first aid or care and communicating with EMS staff as necessary.
- Interact with children in a professional, positive manner.
- Adheres to the Positive Leaps Model of care.
- Adheres to all Positive Leaps Policies and Procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents, peers, supervisors and visitors, and maintain confidentiality of children and families in treatment.
- Creates an atmosphere of enthusiasm and commitment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess active State or National EMT Certification.
- Must be at least 19 years old· Excellent documentation skills.
- Must be willing to extend hours should a crisis arrive.
- Must be flexible and adaptable to changes in schedule.
- Must be reliable with documentation and adhering to expectations.
- Be willing to collaborate with various team members internally and externally.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, stressful environment.
Exposures and Risks:
- Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Works directly with physically aggressive children.
- Exposed to loud noise, such as repeated and prolonged screaming and crying.
