PROGRAM: Brown County Schools Paths to Quality Level 3 Preschool LOCATION: Sprunica Elementary, 3611 Sprunica Rd., Nineveh, IN 46164 HOURS: 7.5 hours per day, 184 school days (possible 8-week summer session option) HOURLY RATE: CDA credential $17.06; Associate degree in ECE $19.16; Bachelor’s degree in education or related field $21.26. Health benefit package available.
SUMMARY:
The preschool teacher designs and implements an appropriate instructional program to meet the individual needs of children ages 3-5 years including those with disabilities and second language learning needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates a daily schedule which includes planned transitions and routines yet is flexible.
Makes effective use of instruction materials.
Plans age-appropriate classroom to increase language, social-emotional, and motor skills.
Creates an environment where children learn through exploration, discovery, and practice.
Plans and implements instructional, behavioral, and therapeutic activities.
Ensures that individual student performance levels, needs, and abilities are addressed.
Promotes family engagement in accordance with Paths to Quality Level 3 requirements.
Provides a balance of child-initiated and teacher guided activities.
Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest/light activity to avoid overstimulation.
Helps children develop habits of caring for themselves, their belongings and classroom materials.
Assesses children’s needs and developmental progress on an ongoing formal and informal basis.
Directs the paraprofessionals when in the classroom.
Complies with all licensing, accreditation and other documenting and reporting requirements.
Maintains a professional relationship with all school personnel.
Conducts oneself in a professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS: All candidates must meet one of the followingeducation requirements.
Hold a current (not expired) Child Development Associate credential.
Hold an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in education with a concentration of courses in early education or in a related field
with a concentration of courses in child development.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Attendance commitment.
Provides positive behavioral support to students.
Maintains confidentiality.
Timely communication with families and supervisor.
Uses universal precautions to maintain a healthy school environment for students and self.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Capable of walking, bending, standing, stooping.
Ability to move/position students or specialized equipment and change diapers if needed.
