Qualifications:
Holds a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Holds a valid State of Georgia Teaching Certificate.
Meets all certification requirements including teaching area endorsements in the State of Georgia.
Performance Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, pedagogical knowledge, and the needs of ESE students by providing relevant learning experiences
Plans lessons using state and local school district curriculum and standards, effective strategies, and data to address the differentiated needs of all students.
Promotes student learning by using research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content to engage students in active learning and to facilitate the students’ acquisition of key knowledge and skills.
Chooses a variety of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment strategies and instruments that are valid and appropriate for the content and student population and uses those assessments to inform instructional decisions and create a safe and engaging learning environment.
Engages students in active learning using research-based methods, supporting individual learning differences, and utilizing diverse assessment strategies to analyze data and provide timely feedback.
Exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school’s mission, participates in professional growth opportunities to support student learning, and contributes to the profession.
Communicates effectively with students, parents or guardians, district and school personnel, and other stakeholders in ways that enhance student learning.
Collaborates with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to assess student needs, progress, expectations, and goals, and facilitating students' learning across various activities.
Adapts classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans that reflect accommodations, modification and IEP driven attributes.
Demonstrates the ability to complete timely and accurate documents to include progress monitoring data, functional behavioral assessments, behavior intervention plans, and individualized education plans.
Understands and implement IDEA driven compliance timelines.
Demonstrates an understanding of inclusive programming and instruction in the regular education setting and direct instruction in the pull-out setting.
Performs other duties as assigned by Principal or Supervisor.
Other Functions:
Daily attendance and punctuality are required to ensure the goals of the work unit are met.
