Job Title:  Receiving/Unloader

Department: Receiving

Reports to: Receiving Manager

Supervises: None

Location: Washington Distribution Center

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

General Overview:  Unloads overseas containers and trucked in containers and trailers, reconciles to the vendor packing list and utilizes the appropriate structure sheet to palletize correctly for storage in the Distribution Center.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Unloads product from containers and/or trailers.
  • Palletizes product for proper storage and/or use in the Distribution Center.
  • All other duties as requested.
  • May be assigned to various other areas or departments when needed to meet company goals.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic computer experience preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Experience operating industrial lifts is preferred.
  • Ability to be certified to operate required equipment.
  • Possesses the ability to read and interpret documents such as orders and instructions.  
  • Ability to write and understand reports and correspondence.
  • Good knowledge of basic math; ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as quantities and combined box counts.        
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of dealing with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt and change as business needs change daily.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods of time; majority of the shift.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend and lift for full shift. 
  • Regularly required to lift/move/push or pull weight of up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 70 lbs. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms requiring dexterity and handling or working with packages or equipment
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.        
  • Employee will be required to hear warning horns, bells, alarms, and oral instructions for safety purposes.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, shipping orders, packing specifications, labels, reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
