We are seeking an experienced commerce-focused Group Director, Business Innovations who acts as our client’s partner – focused on understanding their business needs, helping them achieve their goals and championing them within CourtAvenue. In this role, you’ll leverage your deep industry expertise and collaborative leadership style to drive impactful business outcomes. This role is tailor-made for someone who thrives on solving complex challenges, connecting dots across teams and showing up – literally and figuratively – for their clients.
As the senior lead on a commerce-focused CPG account, you’ll assume full responsibility for the overall health and wellness of the account, including growth and client satisfaction. You’ll partner with key leaders to strategically guide a cross-functional team in delivering integrated strategies and programs across digital, ecommerce, retail, shopper, and in-store. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor and orchestrator—ensuring every touchpoint aligns to the bigger picture and delivers impact.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary strategic lead for the client, building deep relationships based on trust, transparency, and shared goals
With support of the team, lead program development from client briefing, creative concepting, execution through measurement
Work closely with internal teams (strategy, creative, media, tech, analytics) to deliver high-quality, insight-driven work
Drive planning and execution cycles—annual, seasonal, and campaign-level—while keeping KPIs and performance at the forefront
Consistently show up with a deep curiosity about the industry, staying on top of trends, news and the competition
Inspire and empower team members to take ownership, develop their skills and reach their full potential through your mentorship and leading by example
Listen to client challenges and use your knowledge of the business to spot opportunities for other ways we can help the client outside of the core engagement
Ownership of the P&L and ensuring financial health of the business, including accurately forecast revenue and ensure delivery against both top-line growth and margin targets
Qualifications
12-15+ years of client services or brand-side experience, ideally in food or broader CPG
Extensive experience leading integrated planning and execution of commerce campaigns across retailers
Experience working in collaborative multi-agency models to develop campaigns that work across channels
Experience bringing brand programs to life across top retailers representing multiple channels - (Walmart, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Dollar General, Amazon)
Passionate about how people shop, eat, scroll, and buy—and how to connect with them in all the right places
A natural relationship builder who’s equally comfortable in the boardroom, on the factory floor, or at an in-store walkthrough
Deeply connected to clients and teams, building meaningful and constructive relationships across both organizations that produce results
A believer in the power of in-person connection—with clients, partners, and your team
Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely
Experienced in managing account-level P&Ls with a proven ability to drive both top-line growth and bottom-line efficiency
Confident in revenue forecasting, budget stewardship, and ensuring work is delivered both profitably and with excellence
Self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to think on our feet. We have a strong sense of commitment to getting the job done quickly, properly and with the highest quality
Able to navigate conflict and difficult situations with grace that also focuses on a positive outcome
