General Description
The incumbent provides skilled field administrative support and technically advanced services for the Center for Organizing and Bargaining (C4OB) staff and others, including developing databases and conducting data analysis and technical research, particularly in the areas of school finance; bargaining; compensation analysis and comparisons; public sector retirement systems (including STRS/PERS); charter schools; and member/chapter organizing. Technical research involves compilation of data and conceptualization of data distribution for development of specific reports, research briefs, and organizing projects. The incumbent works with minimal supervision in all job requirements, and must exercise a high level of independent judgement, initiative, and discretion in both the utilization and dissemination of sensitive information.

Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent may perform any combination of the tasks listed below:

  • Compiles data from multiple sources and creates databases, spreadsheets, reports, and other data-management files of a highly sophisticated nature that track and measure a wide variety of issues.
  • Assists in the development of systems that enable real-time synthesis of data and measures of program results.
  • Develops materials and assists in the production of materials for staff training in the fundamentals of data integration and analysis, including providing knowledge-based technical support to field staff users.
  • Prepares specially designed data analysis and other reports, as requested by staff and management.
  • Composes and prepares correspondence for staff from drafts, notes, and other materials, including editing reports to ensure correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Assists C4OB staff with advocacy research, analysis, and drafting reports geared toward influencing policy and legislation of concern to the Association.
  • Provides overall administrative support regarding programs, special projects, processing mail and other correspondence, maintaining files and records, scheduling appointments, making travel arrangements, preparing materials and presentations, and maintaining office calendars for assigned staff.
  • Supports organizing campaigns, including, but not limited to, those centering on school finance, bargaining, public sector retirement systems (including STRS/PERS), charter schools, and member/chapter engagement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Functions Unique to This Position

  • Administrator and high-level user of various platforms/systems including but not limited to Hustle, Falcon,  BEN/SSA, PDI, and other database applications, as assigned.
  • Provides administrative support for C4OB statewide programs, including, but not limited to, retirement workshops, statewide conferences and programs, and grant projects, as assigned.

Qualifications - Minimum Required

  • Bachelor's degree & 1 year relevant experience, or Associate degree & 3 years relevant experience or High School diploma/GED & 6 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases.
  • Ability to follow through on work assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Substantial knowledge of CTA, data analysis and data processing tools.
  • Substantial knowledge of membership policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate generally used office equipment.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Aptitude for figures and details; ability to prepare and analyze draft reports and position papers.
  • Must have ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes in priorities.
  • Must have ability to exercise initiative, tact and good judgment.
  • Must have ability to organize and coordinate work plans involving colleagues.
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn and use the Association’s software programs.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

*This position is in a bargaining unit represented by CAS. Salaries are established by a collective bargaining agreement. Step placement is also determined by the CTA/CAS Agreement.
