Position Summary:
Responsible for managing and maintaining the networks, servers, operating systems, and communication links. Directs the efforts of the Information Technology staff and resources dedicated to supporting office automation, application maintenance and support, PCs and end user equipment, network and systems security, and database administration. Ensures the security of Credit Union computer data and account information. Coordinates with management to establish and implement operating system goals and objectives. Oversee the scheduling and operation of the IT department. Trains, assigns, and supervises IT department personnel. Involved in all IT related projects, upgrades and implementations.
Role and Responsibilities:
Core Banking Systems Oversight
- Administer and optimize the credit union’s Symitar core processing system.
- Manage integrations with third-party fintech platforms, payment gateways, and digital banking solutions.
Technology Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of network infrastructure, servers, cloud environments, and cybersecurity controls.
- Maintain high system availability and performance while ensuring readiness for disaster recovery and business continuity.
IT Governance & Security
- Ensure compliance with NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA, and internal IT policies.
- Lead initiatives for data protection, access management, and threat mitigation.
- Ensure Azure environment management practices, align and maintain with CIS benchmarks and industry best standards.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor IT staff, fostering a high-performing and service-oriented team culture.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate potential technology partners, ensuring value and innovation.
Strategic Planning & Innovation
- Collaborate with leadership to manage and execute long-term IT strategy aligned with credit union goals.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, recommending innovations that enhance member engagement, operational efficiency and profitability of the Credit Union.
Requirements
Qualification and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of IT management experience, ideally within a credit union or financial institution
- Proficiency in core banking platforms (Symitar preferred), SQL database architecture, and regulatory frameworks
- Demonstrated knowledge in infrastructure management, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity practices
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of systems integration.
- Understanding of Credit Union operations and information needs.
- Excellent leadership abilities.
- Able to organize, coordinate, and direct projects.
- Strong oral and written communications abilities.
- Solid analytical and technical skills.
- Thorough understanding of programming, information systems and business software applications.
Preferred Certifications
- CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
- PMP – Project Management Professional
- ITIL Foundation
- Technical certifications (Microsoft, Palo Alto, or other relevant platforms)
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Stationary work, often requiring standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Operate standard office equipment and keyboards
- Visually recognize, reconcile, and verify numerical details for accuracy
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
