Compensation Range: $22 - $23 per hour

Position Summary:
The Wellness and Alumni Specialist provides an aspect of active treatment, involving individualized activities to restore, remediate or rehabilitate specific aspects of physical, cognitive, emotional, or social functioning to assist patients who have a substance abuse and or dependence diagnosis or other co-occurring diagnosis. This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with current patients at the facility as well as through phone calls, text messages, through Zoom meetings and events, and social media with past patients.
Essential Job Functions:
- Documents in the Electronic Medical Record all Wellness and Recreation activities.
- Answers all alumni incoming calls, text messages and social media requests in an appropriate and ethical manner and sharing with Chief Operations Officer.
- Coordinates referrals to Alumni Director for all prospective returning patient screenings.
- Organizes, plans, and chaperones Alumni Meetings and Events.
- Provides support to not only Alumni patients but also families of Alumni that reach out.
- Facilitates Alumni information groups
- Keep direct line of communication with leadership, business development, admissions, and clinical departments.
- Provides community awareness education and in-services on behalf of facility as assigned.
- Approaches patients/family members, significant others, and visitors with a respectful caring manner to convey a sense of concern and warmth.
- Receives physician orders for recreational therapy assessment and treatment, .
- Involves patient, family and/or significant others as appropriate and conducts the assessment in a timely manner, in accordance with standards of regulatory agencies and/or treatment protocols and policies.
- Reports and documents a summary of patient progress, functional status, achievement and changes in treatment plan.
- Collaborates/consults with the patient’s treatment team as needed and develops the individualized recreational therapy treatment plan that includes patient preferences, short term, long term and/or discharge related functional outcome goals and the treatment interventions to be used to achieve treatment goals and outcomes.
- Prepares the patient for recreation therapy and implements the individualized activities to restore, remediate or rehabilitate physical, cognitive, emotional or social functioning in order to improve and support their recovery.
- Implementation of the activity is consistent with the overall multi or interdisciplinary patient treatment program. Evaluates and documents patient progress and satisfaction resulting from the activity interventions provided and modifies or discontinues the activities as needed and based upon patient progress, achievement of functional outcome goals, lack of progress or change in condition.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time position that will work Sunday to Thursday between 12 PM to 8 PM.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree, in recreational therapy or a related field such as recreation and leisure studies with an emphasis or concentration in recreational therapy/therapeutic recreation, strongly preferred.
- Experience conducting organized activities for individuals and/or groups.
- Experience in the field of substance abuse, knowledge of 12 step program
- Exhibits capacity for developing a relationship with patients and their family members.
- Has knowledge of, and experience in, the facilitation of group process, as well as individual counseling sessions. Demonstrates knowledge of patient behavior management techniques.
- Demonstrates an understanding of basic computer skills and a willingness to utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) – KIPU and CMR
- Knowledge of recreational activities, practices, methods, techniques and opportunities for facility activities supervisor to collaborate with other health care disciplines to improve patient independence.
- Communicates and works effectively with a team, consults with the multi-disciplinary team, patient, family and referent (consistent with CFR 42 and CFR 45) to address clinical issues both verbally and in writing related to the individualized treatment plan, continuing care, including types of care, level of care.
- CPR and First Aid within first 30 days of employment
- Current Lifeguard training preferred
