Jan De Nul Group provides specialized services for the installation of offshore structures for the renewable energy markets. These services include, among others, the installation and burial of subsea cables, the connection of wind turbines, and the full scope of onshore and offshore high-voltage substations, along with all related operations and maintenance (O&M) activities. All services are always tailored to the client’s needs and, if required, executed under an EPC contract (engineering, procurement, and construction). What you’ll do:As an Interface Engineer, you are responsible for identifying, managing, and coordinating all technical interfaces within the project team and with external suppliers for the realization of an onshore high-voltage substation (AIS and GIS) within the voltage range of 150 kV to 380 kV.
You play a key role in the design and execution process of the substation, acting as a central link between internal disciplines (Design, Commissioning, Quality, Safety, Planning, etc.) and external suppliers.
Thanks to your technical expertise and experience, combined with strong communication skills, you ensure that all relevant information is available in a timely, accurate, and structured manner for all stakeholders.
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Interface Management:
- Identify all internal and external interfaces between systems and installations, including TFOs 220/380kV, GIS bays, AIS bays, shunt reactors, and other primary components.
- Prepare, maintain, and follow up on a detailed interface matrix, including responsibilities for each phase: design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).
- Coordination & Communication:
- Act as the central point of contact for interface-related issues within the project.
- Coordinate information flow between the design team, commissioning team, quality assurance, safety, and planning.
- Ensure timely and correct information transfer to and from third-party suppliers.
- Technical Alignment:
- Monitor the compatibility of external equipment and systems with internal project components.
- Support the review of technical documents and third-party specifications.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential interface conflicts or risks and propose solution-oriented actions.
- Actively contribute to reducing failure costs through precise coordination between disciplines and suppliers.
What Do You Need?
Relevant experience with the design and operation of onshore high-voltage substations (AIS and GIS), preferably between 150 kV and 380 kV.
Background as an Electrical Engineer is a plus.
Knowledge of primary equipment such as TFOs, GIS, AIS bays, shunt reactors, etc.
Strong analytical skills and a good understanding of multidisciplinary technical processes.
Experience with interface management and the use of interface matrices is an advantage.
Strong communication skills and experience coordinating with various stakeholders.
Proactive and structured working attitude.
