Boulder County Housing Department is seeking to hire a Resident Services Support SpecialistThis position provides one-on-one assistance to individuals and families who reside within the Boulder County Housing Authority’s (BCHA) housing portfolio of over 1,000 affordable apartments and 1,000+ voucher holders. It also develops and implements specific programming . This position assists clients to identify goals and access resources to live safely and independently; assists with applications/referrals for financial assistance and public/private benefits; advocates for residents/voucher holders in resolving problems and barriers, and performs related work as required. Candidates should have previous experience working with marginalized households who face high barriers related to the social determinants of health. Candidates should understand and empathize with differences in people and cultures and be comfortable with diversity. An ideal candidate is politically knowledgeable about how Boulder County works: knows how to get things done both through formal channels and the informal network, understands the origin and reasoning behind key policies, practices, and procedures, and understands the culture of Boulder County.

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work remote. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $62,520.00 - $76,284.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of August 4th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of August 11th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of August 18th
  • Language Proficiency Test: Week of August 18th
  • Reference Check: Week of August 18th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Position Duties

  1. Partners with staff from Boulder County Housing Authority to support resident/voucher holders
  2. Collaborates with Departmental and external programs/personnel
  3. Supports BCHA residents/voucher holders to maintain housing and housing resiliency
  4. Maintains community resource connections and stay current with resources
  5. Develops and conducts programming for certain populations and BCHA sites
  6. Participates in all trainings/meetings with the Supportive Housing Division
  7. Performs related work, as required
  8. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 6 years of combined education and experience in social or human services, case management, counseling, mental health fields, non-profits, or related experience.

Additional related education may count towards required experience.

Other Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills. 
  • Bachelor's degree in social services or related field
  • Knowledge of the local human service community, as well as assessment and referral linkage experience, community programming, and experience within the mental health system
  • Experience with supportive housing programs
  • Experience working with high acuity populations
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health crises
  • Experience working within mental health systems
  • Experience developing and conducting programming for at-risk populations/individuals
