OVERVIEW:

The Director of Business Operations, Market Leader is a strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously optimizing the operational infrastructure that supports Market Leaders across regions. This role ensures the effective delivery of systems, tools, and cross-functional collaboration frameworks to drive regional growth, partnership development, and revenue generation allow YUU to further increase our impact and meet our mission.

Reporting directly to the Regional Market Leader, the Director of Business Operations, Market Leader will work closely with national and regional teams, enabling Market Leaders to execute a Year Up United’s mission with excellence and impact.

Aligned with YUU’s values, this role will also engage students as a coach, group facilitator, and advocate, contributing to a supportive learning environment built on trust and collaboration among students, faculty, and site leaders.

This is a hybrid and location flexible role. You must live within a commutable distance to one of the locations where we serve students (https://www.yearup.org/job-training/locations). Preference for candidates in CST.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of foundational tools such as the Market Intelligence Platform, Salesforce workflows, Knowledge Repository, and Partnership Mapping Tool.
  • Ensure consistent implementation and utilization of platforms and resources that streamline workflows and provide real-time access to partnership data and market insights.

Strategic Enablement & Opportunity Management

  • Operationalize the Market Playbook and Partner Engagement Toolkit to support consistent execution of market entry and partnership development strategies.
  • Oversee the Opportunity Management process, ensuring the structured evaluation and prioritization of new market opportunities across cross-functional teams.
  • Support Market Leaders in leveraging the Funding & Grant Database and Chamber of Commerce memberships to secure resources and develop government and community relationships.

Cross-Functional Collaboration, Knowledge Sharing & Communication

  • Build and manage the Cross-functional Collaboration Hub to align Talent Networks, Development, Corporate Engagement, Enrollment, and other teams in support of market strategies.
  • Facilitate monthly and quarterly convenings that foster alignment, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving among regional and national leaders.
  • Support Market Leaders in maintaining transparency and accessibility of key information across teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist in documenting processes, insights, and learnings to improve team efficiency and foster organizational knowledge continuity.
  • Collaborate with the Market Leaders to share updates on progress, insights, and outcomes with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Leadership Development & Support

  • Partner with HR and Learning & Development to execute onboarding and ongoing training programs aligned with the Leadership and Commercial Skills Framework.
  • Ensure Market Leaders are equipped with the tools and resources to build competencies in public speaking, workforce development, and revenue generation.

Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with the SD, S/O, senior leadership, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment across teams, promoting open communication and shared ownership of objectives.
  • Engage with internal and external partners to support key organizational initiatives and enhance cross-functional collaboration.

Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor KPIs that measure Market Leaders’ impact across market expansion, partnership retention, revenue growth, and internal collaboration.
  • Analyze operational effectiveness and drive data-informed improvements to enhance performance and strategic alignment.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, program strategy, or nonprofit management, ideally with multi-site or market expansion experience.
  • Strong experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), data dashboards, and cross-functional project management.
  • Proven ability to build and scale systems and processes that drive organizational efficiency and impact.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable working across departments and leadership levels.
  • Systems thinker with an eye for operational detail and continuous improvement.
  • Mission-driven with a passion for equity, innovation, and scaling impact.
  • Effective in balancing strategic priorities with tactical execution.
  • Deep understanding of workforce development, economic development, or social impact ecosystems is a plus

Internal Band 8

Salary Range: $95,000 - $133,000

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Year Up United has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets. For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Salary offers take into account a candidate’s skills, experience, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

  • Vacation: Earn three weeks paid vacation in first year of employment; four weeks after initial year.
