We’re hiring a Director of Commercial Operations Strategy and InterPlan Relationships at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. This is a strategic leadership role where you’ll be the primary point of contact for our BlueCard Program and help guide how we implement InterPlan policies across the organization. We’re looking for someone who brings strong healthcare leadership experience, a sharp strategic mindset, and the ability to communicate and influence effectively—both internally and with external partners.
While this is a fully remote position, it does require travel at least twice a year to represent BCBST at BlueCross BlueShield Association events like meetings, onsite sessions, and Customer Forums. It’s a great chance to connect with peers across the Blues system and help shape the future of our collaborative work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leads evaluation of processes for efficiencies and possible automation, working with teams through any related implementations
- Engage and actively participate in calls, workgroups, and webinars as the BlueCard program representative gathering necessary information and feedback.
- Acts as the primary contact for BlueCard Program and related issues and is accountable for communications and decisions related to the BlueCard Program and other inter-Plan functions.
- Acts as BCBSA Blue Card Program Director representing BCBST on committees and leading the development and implementation of InterPlan policies for Commercial Operations
- Ensures that the Plan is maximizing the value of the BlueCard Program for all constituents: internal Plan staff, other BCBS Plans, members, accounts and providers.
- Fulfill tasks in Inter-Plan Programs Policy requirements assigned to the Inter-Plan role, including but not limited to:
- Manage intra-Plan communications of decisions and facilitate responses to System-wide requests and Plan-to-Plan level 3 three-day disputes.
- Submit official policy exception requests (if an alternate designee submits the request, the Inter-Plan Executive must be copied on the email).
- Attend all Inter-Plan Executive meetings, commercial market briefings, governance previews and any adhoc meetings
Job Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor degree in Business, Economics, Finance or healthcare or relevant field or equivalent work experience required. Equivalent experience is defined as 4 years of professional work experience in a corporate environment
Experience
- 8 – 10 years – leadership/managerial experience in healthcare, strategy setting or related field
- Experience in communicating concepts and influencing at both executive level and external audiences
Skills / Certifications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to translate abstract concepts and ideas into quantitative analysis
- Must be a team player, be organized and have the ability to handle multiple projects
- Strong interpersonal and organization skills
