The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned program.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
Develops a series of civic and community volunteer experiences for the student body that connect with a unit mission, division goals, and university priorities ; the coordinator will also partner with staff on student development programs that highlight civic and community engagement and work in partnership with unit staff in the development and execution of student involvement and leadership programs.
Supervise students participating in community and service-learning programs and projects; assess the community/social needs within the surrounding area to develop/maintain a database of agencies and organizations for community/volunteer service and service-learning opportunities; develop/maintain records and a database for students and student organization members completing community/service-learning activities; develop and facilitate training workshops and manuals for students, faculty, and external agencies.
Partners with alumni, faculty, and staff in creating collaborative civic and community engagement programs ; develop literature promoting civic engagement and serve on identified university committees promoting community/service learning; serve as liaison between the University and external agencies for community/service-learning opportunities.
Coordinate, plan, and implement events and activities for students, faculty, and external agencies in support of the mission of the Office of Student Engagement.
Seek external funds to support program activities; be administratively responsible for maintaining office procedure in compliance with University and System requirements; manage budget.
Performs other duties as assigned. Supports the division for Student Affairs in divisional efforts.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of related experience in an educational setting or community service/volunteer service setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work nights and weekends when needed to attend events and meet with students, including travel that may require overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with student leadership training programs, and student activities.
Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and to deal with coworkers, students, faculty, and staff tactfully and courteously to maintain effective service-oriented relationships.
Ability to train and develop student leaders, individually and in groups, and identify and develop student leadership opportunities.
