Job Summary (basic description)

The Workday HCM Integrations Developer plays a critical role in delivering high-quality integration solutions, leveraging deep expertise in Workday integrations, security, and reporting. Partnering closely with the Senior HRIS Manager and cross-functional teams across HR, IT, and Finance, this role is responsible for translating business needs into detailed technical specifications, configuring scalable and secure solutions, and ensuring thorough end-to-end testing and smooth delivery. The specialist will also proactively address technical challenges, identify root causes, and implement durable solutions that enhance system stability, performance, and reliability through collaborative problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in HR and other cross-functional teams such as Finance and IT to understand business requirements and translate user needs into clear technical requirements needed to allow data to go into or out of Workday to align data across multiple internal systems and other third-party platforms.
  • Configure and set up integrations into and out of Workday based on requirements gathered.
  • Troubleshoot integration errors and propose recommendations that can help with streamlining or making processes more efficient.
  • Coordinate with IT on the delivery of new integrations, security permission updates, and improvements needed to expand or improve upon existing solutions.
  • Help to oversee the creation and management of user roles and security groups within Workday by evaluating existing security access controls, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending improvements.
  • Gradually develop to become the Subject Matter Expert for all Workday focused integrations and security.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of integration designs and processes from planning to launch.
  • Provide guidance and support to end-users on integration and security access-related inquiries.
  • Support semi-annual upgrade testing in Workday. Work on other assignments as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with Workday integrations, including Core Connectors, EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), RaaS, and Studio.
  • Strong experience in Workday Report Writer, Calculated Fields, XSLT, XML, and JSON.
  • Solid understanding of Web Services (SOAP/REST) and API integrations.
  • Familiarity with Workday Security and integration system user roles.
  • Experience with integration lifecycle management, including deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in data migration, data mapping, transformation, and scheduling of integrations.
  • Experience integrating with third-party systems. (e.g., Benefit Providers, Applicant Tracking Systems, Learning Management Systems, Payroll Providers, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one end-to-end Workday implementation or migration project
  • Ability to define business challenges and communicate technical and business changes in a clear, thoughtful way to less technical users to ensure understanding and alignment.
  • Experience working on Boomerang integrations or those connecting Active Directory, Aderant, ADP, Benefit Providers, ServiceNow and/or Snowflake is highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong problem-solving and ability to devise creative solutions.
  • Strong analytical thinking with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to lead integration projects from design through deployment.
  • Strong documentation skills, including technical specs and user guides.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and support tickets with competing deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of HCM processes and business operations is a plus.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript) is a plus.

Educational Requirements

  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience with Workday Integrations, Security and reporting in a post-production environment.
  • Workday Integration Certification (Studio, Core Connector, etc.) preferred.
  • Workday HCM Certification (HCM, Absence, Benefits, Payroll, etc.) is a plus.
  • Law firm experience is a plus.

For New York City Metro area, the expected salary range for this position is between $135,500 and $159,200.   The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
