We’re seeking a Sr Software Engineer to help drive the technology vision and development of our next-generation home care agency and caregiver platform. This is a hybrid position based out of our Midtown Manhattan, Washington D.C. or Bloomington, MN office locations, with an on-site presence required two days per week to support team collaboration.
Essential Job Duties
Build advanced/cutting edge solutions into the home care agency management workflow
Develop front-end and back-end (clojure, postgres) applications and services
Integrate with existing foundational AI models using a variety of technologies including AWS Bedrock
Architect solutions and work with a team of fellow engineers to make them come to life
Design, implement, and maintain APIs and microservices to support robust, scalable functionality and interoperability with other platforms (e.g., HL7, FHIR)
Promote a culture of curiosity and problem-solving in the workplace
Make assessments about incoming work requirements and share development projects with fellow engineers on collaborative projects
Collaborate closely with fellow product managers, designers and other stakeholders to understand software requirements and define team goals
Build health-data secure solutions, participate in security audits and remediations
Conduct code reviews, providing feedback to improve team efficiency and maintain quality coding standards
Mentor fellow software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure consistent software quality

Travel Requirements
Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel
Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in software engineering roles, developing modern architectures and frameworks
Experience with back-end development using languages such as Go, C, Node.js, Clojure, or Python
Proficiency with at least one reactive JavaScript framework (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue)
Experience with PostgreSQL
Strong understanding of RESTful interfaces
Familiarity with cloud technologies like Azure, AWS, or Snowflake
Experience working with Amazon Bedrock and other AI technologies
CI/CD experience using GitHub or similar tools
ETL/interoperability experience, particularly managing integrations across systems
Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR
Experience with healthcare billing and EDI/X12 transactions (e.g., 271/270, 835/837) and clearinghouse formats
Familiarity with local LLM technologies such as Mistral and open-source AI solutions is a plus
Experience with relational databases including MS SQL and Oracle is a plus
Familiarity with tools like JIRA and Confluence is a plus
Strong problem-solving skills in collaborative environments
Intellectually curious and committed to continuous learning across frontend, backend, cloud, architecture, and DevOps
Ownership mentality with a commitment to quality and impact
Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to be part of a dynamic, ever-evolving team
The base salary range for this US-based, full-time, and exempt position is $122,000-$140,000, not including variable compensation. An employee’s exact starting salary will be based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, merit, location, and the ability to exemplify the HHAeXchange core values.
