Job Summary: About the Position: This position is located in the Dept of Radiology Diagnostic Radiology at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This is an open continuous announcement. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement at any of the locations listed. Major Duties:

  • Performs a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations.
  • Responsible for training Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Radiology and/or Emergency Room Residents.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of developments in ultrasonography field.
  • Obtains adequate diagnostic image as determined by a radiologist to interpret.
  • Advises radiologist and/or referring physician of examination results; provide preliminary information regarding diagnostic evaluation.
  • Performs operator level maintenance and care of equipment ensuring adequate imaging.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a variety of ultrasound examination on patients, setting up, adjusting and/or maintaining ultrasound diagnostic equipment and assisting Radiologist or Physician with reading or evaluating ultrasound results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
