Most HVAC sales jobs hand you a tablet, a price sheet and a quota. This one hands you a seat at the table with the people who own the company.

Boston Budget Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has served homeowners across Greater Boston and the South Shore for more than a decade. We're locally and privately owned, not backed by private equity, and we plan to stay that way. That's why we can price honestly, tell a customer when a repair makes more sense than a replacement, and answer to our founding principle: do the right thing.

We're growing fast and we run like a startup. We're building a dedicated home comfort sales role, and we want someone who will help us build it, not just fill it.

The role is a mix of time in the field, in homeowners' houses, and time at our office working with the owners and the team.

Why this role is different

• You work with the owners. No regional manager and no scripts from headquarters. A good idea on Tuesday can be how we do things by Friday.
• You'll learn the tools the trade is heading toward. We use AI every day across the business, alongside ServiceTitan, OnCall Air, Amply and our own live data powered by Claude. You'll learn them and help decide how our sales process uses them.
• Honest selling is the job. We would rather lose a sale than sell a family the wrong system. You're paid on well-scoped, well-priced work.
• You own your pipeline. You get a head start: every new replacement request that calls in, plus the opportunities our field technicians find on service calls. When it runs dry, you don't wait for it to fill. You make a plan and work it, whether that means cold calling or teaming up with marketing on a new campaign. We want someone hungry, with a can-do attitude.

What you'll do

• Meet homeowners in their homes, often the same day, and listen before you recommend anything.
• Survey the house properly: equipment, ductwork, piping, radiation and electrical. A lot of Greater Boston houses are old, and the obvious answer is often the wrong one.
• Size and design the system, including load calculations, then build and present clear options in OnCall Air, with financing and Mass Save incentives where they apply.
• Follow up on open proposals so no homeowner is left wondering what happens next.
• Hand our install crew a complete, accurate handoff so they deliver exactly what you sold.
• Help us shape how selling will happen in this rapidly changing world.

What we install

Heat pumps, ducted and ductless. Mini-splits, single and multi-zone. Central air, furnaces and air handlers. Gas and oil boilers, steam and hydronic systems.

How we work

We follow the golden rule. We do what's right, we take care of the families we serve and the families of the people who work here, and we do it with genuine care. If something isn't working, you tell an owner directly, and we listen.

Requirements

Someone who can explain a heating system standing in a basement without hiding behind jargon, ask for the order without pushing, and follow through every time. You're curious, you like learning new tools, and you'd rather help build something than inherit a finished playbook.

• Two or more years of in-home sales, ideally residential HVAC or home services. A strong HVAC technician who wants to move into sales is just as welcome.
• Comfortable with technology. You don't need to be technical, you need to be willing.
• Knows that following up and following through are what make a sales success.
• Available for some evening and Saturday appointments, because that's when homeowners are home.
• Valid driver's license.

Real advantages: Manual J load calculations, heat pump and mini-split design, boiler, steam or hydronic experience, OnCall Air or ServiceTitan, and familiarity with Mass Save.

Benefits

• A safety net for slow weeks. Hopefully you never need it, but we understand the nature of sales. A weekly guarantee worth $50,000 a year means a slow week never leaves you empty-handed, and whenever your commission is worth more, you earn the commission instead.
• Commission on every install you sell, paid on the first payroll after the install is complete. No cap, and a higher rate on production above $1 million a year.
• Target total compensation of $120,000 to $180,000 a year, uncapped.
• Health insurance, with the company covering 80% of individual and 50% of dependent costs.
• Ten paid vacation days, five paid sick days and six paid holidays, with vacation that grows the longer you stay.
• Education reimbursement up to $1,500 a year, plus paid training, license and certification support.
• Work directly with ownership at a locally owned company that isn't going to be sold to private equity next year.
