Description

The Field Service Electrician provides on-site electrical troubleshooting, start-ups, and commissioning for pump stations, building power connections, and other industrial equipment supported by Plant #5. Roughly 50 % of the time is spent at customer sites; the remainder is spent in the shop working with the electrical team in constructing projects, along with preparing parts, documentation, and test reports for sites.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform field diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems up to 480 V three-phase.
• Lead pump station and building-service start-ups, including power-up, functional checks, and hand-over to the client.
• Interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, and single-line diagrams.
• Terminate, test, and commission MCCs, VFDs, soft-starters, and control panels.
• Produce clear service reports and start-up documentation.
• Interface professionally with customers, contractors, engineers, and end-users.
• Maintain safety compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company procedures.
• Train operators or maintenance staff on basic system operation when required.
• Maintain assigned service vehicle, test equipment, and inventory of spare parts.

Typical Working Conditions
• Home base: Plant #5 shop for parts staging and paperwork.
• Field locations: municipal pump stations, treatment plants, and industrial facilities throughout the Northeast.
• Schedule: primarily Monday–Friday 6AM-4:30PM with limited weekends. (no after hour call-outs)

Requirements

• State-licensed Journeyman (or higher) Electrician—industrial or commercial emphasis preferred.
• 3+ years troubleshooting motors, controls, and power distribution equipment.
• Familiarity with pump stations, VFDs, PLC I/O, and instrumentation a plus.
• Able to read and interpret wiring diagrams and P&IDs.
• Valid driver’s license; comfortable with overnight travel (25–50 %).
• Ability to lift 50 lb and work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
