Job Description
The US Logistics Operations Specialist orchestrates and implements comprehensive logistics strategies for US operations, while driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and performance across the supply chain network. The Logistics Operations Specialist is responsible for the daily execution of transport planning and shipment management for North American Packaged Goods operations. This role manages the end-to-end process from delivery receipt through carrier confirmation, ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods across all transport modes. The specialist serves as the primary operational interface between Syngenta and its carrier partners, driving load optimization, cut-off compliance, and exception resolution within the TMS.
Accountabilities:
- Execute daily transportation planning, load optimization, consolidation, and carrier tendering activities across the North American packaged goods network using the TMS.
- Manage transportation execution, including carrier selection, shipment tracking, exception resolution, spot bids, and priority shipments to ensure on-time delivery and service performance.
- Coordinate with warehouses, plants, tollers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure planning cut-offs, delivery requirements, and operational commitments are met.
- Maintain transportation data integrity and system accuracy across SAP, TMS, and related logistics systems.
- Monitor carrier and warehouse performance, conduct operational reviews, and drive corrective actions to improve service, cost, and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and key supply chain partners.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements, new technologies, and logistics solutions that enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Production, Procurement, Customer Service, Quality, and other stakeholders to resolve logistics challenges and support business objectives.
- Support supply chain continuity through contingency planning, peak-season readiness, and cost optimization initiatives across the logistics network.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, distribution & inventory management principles.
- Proficiency in Logistics based technology solutions (such as SAP, TMS, WMS).
- Solid understanding of all transportation modes and carrier management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make timely and efficient decisions.
