CDL Driver - Turkey Farm Shavings Haulers bei Prestage

Description

Prestage Farms is seeking a dependable and safety-oriented Commercial Driver to transport and deliver shavings used as bedding material for turkey farms. This position is essential in supporting turkey production operations by ensuring farms receive bedding materials in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining the highest standards of safety, biosecurity, and regulatory compliance.

This is a local, daytime, full-time position averaging 55 to 60 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Load and unload trucks when at destination.
• Regularly remove and secure tarps covering shavings by standing on the ground and operating a manual tarp system, which requires using both hands to turn a crank handle and roll the tarp backward and forward.
• Ensure that the tractor and trailer is clean each day inside and out to include filling tank with fuel at the end of each.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Document and log work/rest periods
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Previous commercial driving experience preferred due to the frequent backing and maneuvering required on each trip.
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• No recent moving violations or serious driving offenses.
• Adaptability and sound judgment to handle unexpected situations, including traffic delays, weather conditions, and changing schedules.
• Willingness to submit to background and drug screenings and provide employment references.
• Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and biosecurity practices.
