DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Steel Control Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria at our Manufacturing Facility. The Steel Control Technician assists the Steel Control Lead and/or the team members with the QA, QC, and Kitting of materials between the Factory Built Substation (FBS) Assembly Teams and/or Welding Teams and Steel laydown region to ensure expedited production. The Steel Control Technician works as part of a team to ensure that material flowing through the Steel Area is organized and processed in a timely manner. The Steel Control Technician performs skilled work such as checking critical dimensions on incoming steel, conducting quality checks on other various vendor products, reading blueprints/drawings, as well as operating the Company’s machinery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attends safety meetings as requested / instructed, follows all health and safety procedures.
Positions and aligns material, staging and kitting material using machinery, per assembly bay ahead of need.
Checks quality of incoming vendor products. Follows all established QA/QC processes and procedures.
Maintains materials flowing through Steel laydown region.
Supports requests from FBS Assembly Teams by coordinating with the Team Lead production schedules to KIT and stage material per assembly ahead of need.
Follows established SOP’s and processes.
Communicates to the Team Lead what can be improved and offer solutions.
Collaborate with the Assembly, Warehouse, and Project Teams concerning material receiving and shipping issues.
Communicate to the Team Lead what is not going right.
Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and common power tools.
Moves parts safely into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.
Operates all machinery and equipment, including the Company’s forklift.
Keeps the warehouse property in order, including regular and preventative maintenance on Company equipment and machinery.
Support all departments within the Logistics Team when needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measurer, rules, and combination squares required.
Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) required.
Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screwdriver etc. required.
Knowledge of FBS Assembly and PFB fabrication processes and systems preferred.
Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings preferred
