Requirements
Eligibility criteria:
- Must be enrolled in a graduate degree or PhD program with a graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future.
- 10-week commitment for 40 hours per week with availability to start June 8th, 2025
- Must be able to commute to the office to work at least 3 days onsite in our office in Mountain View, CA
Position Summary:
Want to be at the forefront of AI research? You’ll gain hands on experience developing and fine-tuning techniques that enable Robot Foundation Models (RFMs) perform precise and domain-specific real-world tasks beyond the capabilities of off-the-shelf models. You’ll design methods for transferring task knowledge across robots with diverse form factors, allowing consistent task execution on both homogeneous and heterogeneous robot platforms.
As an intern, you’ll improve in accuracy and efficiency of Physical AI models both in simulated and real environments and contribute to producing high-quality publication. You’ll gain hands-on experience of learning and building state-of-the-art Physical AI technologies and an understanding of business relevance of modern Physical AI technologies. Lastly, you’ll gain organizational and communication skills in a corporate R&D environment.
This role is based in our office in Mountain View, CA. This is a full- time internship role (up to 40 hours per week for 10 weeks) from June 8th through August 13th.
Responsibilities:
- Develop & Test Fine‑Tuning Methods
- Create algorithms that adapt RFMs for precise, domain‑specific tasks beyond generic model capabilities.
- Cross‑Robot Knowledge Transfer
- Design and evaluate techniques enabling task knowledge sharing between robots of different form factors (both homogeneous and heterogeneous platforms).
- Experimentation & Evaluation
- Conduct simulations and real‑world robot trials; collect and analyze performance metrics such as accuracy, efficiency, and robustness.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed experiment logs, produce technical reports, and support internal presentations.
- Research Publication Support
- Assist in drafting conference papers and posters that showcase internship results.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with a mentor, supervising research team, and other interns to integrate findings into broader lab objectives.
Requirements:
- Current or graduated M.S./Ph.D. candidate in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Computer Vision, NLP, Applied Math, or Data Science
- Research skill, Collaboration, Accountability, Self-Management, Escalation and Project Management
- Advanced Python programming with PyTorch / TensorFlow experience
- Linux environment navigation and shell scripting
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience configuring and training transformer models for NLP, computer vision, or robotics applications
- Publications in top-ranked AI conferences
- Ability to efficiently communicate technical contents in verbal and written form
