Mobile Technical Lead

Location: Mclean, VA – Local Candidates Only

Our firm has been retained by a leading organization in the financial services sector to find a high-caliber Mobile Technical Lead. In this role, you will be the primary architect and delivery lead for enterprise-grade mobile applications, utilizing a sophisticated hybrid and native mobile stack.

You will lead mobile development squads, define technical standards, and ensure the highest levels of performance and security. This is a unique opportunity for a leader who enjoys balancing high-level architectural ownership with hands-on development, partnering closely with UX, Backend, and DevOps teams to deliver seamless digital banking experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Architecture: Lead end-to-end mobile architecture using Ionic and Capacitor for hybrid development, supplemented by Swift for native iOS components.
  • Hands-on Development: Perform core development and code reviews for AngularJS-based mobile applications and implement native plugins using Capacitor.
  • Standards & Best Practices: Define coding guidelines, drive technical decisions regarding scalability and security, and ensure compliance with App Store and accessibility requirements.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Product Owners and Backend teams to integrate APIs and third-party SDKs; participate in sprint planning and release management.
  • Security & Performance: Implement mobile security best practices (secure storage, encryption, certificate pinning) and oversee CI/CD pipelines for automated testing.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor mobile developers across both hybrid and native stacks to foster a high-performing engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Ionic Framework: Proven experience in enterprise-scale mobile application development.
  • Capacitor: Expertise in native bridges, plugin development, and device integration (biometrics, push notifications, etc.).
  • AngularJS / Angular: Strong proficiency in mobile UI development and state management.
  • Swift: Experience in native iOS development and plugin customization.
  • Experience: 10+ years of professional experience in Information Technology with a focus on mobile development.

Preferred Good-to-Have Skills:

  • Native Android development experience (Kotlin/Java).
  • Experience with Mobile CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps).
  • Knowledge of Mobile Security standards (OWASP Mobile Top 10) and enterprise authentication (OAuth2, biometrics).
  • Domain Experience: Prior experience in Banking, Financial Services, or highly regulated industries.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong technical leadership and the ability to mentor junior and senior developers.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a relentless focus on delivery.
