Description
Deep Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a SHEQ Manager to lead our Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality programs across our Houston manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and U.S. regulatory and industry standards including OSHA, EPA, API, ASME, and DNV.
You will drive safety culture, oversee SHEQ systems, and lead a small specialist team supporting both domestic and international projects.
Key Responsibilities
SHEQ Leadership
- Develop, manage, and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal/state regulations.
- Lead SHEQ governance meetings and report KPIs to senior leadership.
- Effective review and acceptance of critical supplies to ensure conformance with contract specifications; including welding consumables, steel stock and associated certificates.
- Alignment with UK SHEQ
Health & Safety
- Oversee risk assessments (JHA, HAZCOM, industrial hygiene).
- Ensure compliance with OSHA welding, machine guarding, electrical safety, fall protection, and lifting standards.
- Manage LOTO procedures, hot‑work permitting, and emergency response programs.
- Promote a strong safety culture through audits, toolbox talks, and near‑miss reporting.
Quality Management
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure ISO 9001 compliance.
- Support DNV requirements for WAAM operations and documentation.
- Apply API and ASME standards to welding, fabrication, and pressure‑related work.
- Lead internal, customer, and third‑party audits.
- Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective action processes (8D, 5‑Why, FMEA).
Environmental Management
- Maintain ISO 14001 compliance.
- Oversee waste management, emissions, hazardous materials handling, and EPA‑regulated programs.
- Support sustainability initiatives.
Leadership & Engagement
- Champion a strong SHEQ culture across the organisation.
- Engage leaders and teams to build shared ownership and accountability for Quality and Health & Safety outcomes.
- Coach and support the business to embed SHEQ principles into everyday work, not just systems and processes.
- Drive continuous improvement through ongoing alignment and collaboration with the UK SHEQ team, ensuring consistency, learning, and evolution of SHEQ practices across regions.
- Act as a visible role model and trusted advisor, promoting continuous improvement and positive SHEQ behaviours.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
Key Deliverables
- Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 certifications.
- Achieve zero major non‑conformances in audits.
- Maintain DNV compliance for WAAM processes.
- Deliver accurate monthly SHEQ performance reports.
- Support SHEQ alignment across global operations.
Requirements
.Essential
- 5+ years of SHEQ leadership experience in manufacturing or welding.
- Auditor certification (ISO 9001/14001/45001).
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and U.S. regulatory compliance.
- Experience with API, ASME, DNV, and maritime/energy/O&G sector standards.
- Internal and external audit experience.
- Knowledge of WAAM or ISO 3834 welding quality standards.
Desirable
- CSP, CIH, CHMM, or NEBOSH Diploma.
- Familiarity with ASTM specifications for materials and testing.
- Good technical understanding of engineering drawings and fabrication methods.
- Knowledge of NDE methods
Skills
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Analytical, detail‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving capability.
- Ability to influence effectively at all organizational levels.
Working Conditions
- On‑site role with regular presence on the production floor.
- PPE required in all designated production areas.
- Occasional travel to customer, supplier, or certification‑body sites.
- Occasional planned international travel to support global expansion.
