 Takealot Group, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a highly talented Assistant Planner to join our team at our Cape Town offices.

This person will assist and support all Planners and Senior Planners with all merchandise planning activities.

Role reports to: Head of Planning

Key responsibilities:(What are you directly responsible to achieve within the scope of your role)

● Placing supplier orders
● Assisting Planners with the following:
○ Oversee the in-stock function including demand planning, ordering and capacity management in line with department strategy
○ Deliver accurate insights and reports on a timely basis on which department managers can base commercial decisions and deliver on revenue and margin plans
○ Create sustainable in-stock systems and processes in partnership with central analytics, technical and product teams
○ Compiling the annual retail sales budget, quarterly plan, working plan as well as on-going forecasting at category and product levels to ensure budgets are achieved
○ Managing end to end inventory availability and inventory health including: improved in-stock rates (availability), inventory planning at categorisation, systematic forecasting, markdown and clearance provisions, return to supplier activities and warehouse space management

• System enhancement recommendations
• Training materials for inventory processes
• Best practice guidelines

Financial Planning
• Annual retail sales budgets
• Quarterly category performance plans
• Rolling forecasts at product level
• Budget vs. actual variance reports
• Financial impact assessments of inventory decisions

Inventory Health Management
• In-stock rate metrics and improvement plans
• Inventory aging analysis
• Markdown and clearance plans
• RTV (Return to Vendor) documentation
• Warehouse space utilization reports
• Obsolete inventory identification reports
• Seasonal transition plans

Minimum Required Qualification & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (Commerce,Finance, Mathematics or Economics degree preferable)
  • At least 1- 2 year related retail / commerce merchandise experience

  • Excel sheets knowledge
