Latin Teacher - Leave Replacement Position bei Rye Country Day School

Rye Country Day School is seeking a leave replacement in the Classics Department beginning April 2026 and extending through the end of the academic year, June 2nd. This successful candidate will teach four sections of Upper School Latin: Latin 1, Latin 2, Honors Latin 2, and AP Latin.

Specific responsibilities of the position include:

• Teach four (4) sections of Upper School Latin
• Calculate grades and write student-specific comments at the end of the second semester (June), plus other periodic individual student reports as requested
• Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback of their work
• Periodically write reports that evaluate student performance and demonstrate knowledge of students’ experiences
• Participate in faculty and departmental meetings, field trips, special activities, and rotational duties as needed

Desired qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Classics required; Master’s degree or higher preferred
• 3-5 years of experience teaching Latin in an Upper School setting (grades 9-12)
• A well-developed sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members; a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
• Genuine excitement for and ability to work with students, employees, and families
• Facility with laptop and Learning Management System technology

Compensation: $325 - $550 per day based on experience
